What’s in a Name?

I was surprised to learn the word “arcable” didn’t exist.

As I pondered names for our budding production company, none captured the spirit of what we intended to do. Names hold power. They tell us the history of a thing, its story, even the love that went into creating it. I wanted our name to be symbolic, forward-leaning. In arcable, I could do more than define a term, I could create it.

Here’s the etymology of arc•able® (ärk-ā-bəl) adj.

As defined by Merriam-Webster, “arc” is a continuous progression or line of development. “Able” is having sufficient power or skill to do something.

Arcable® is one’s ability to grow, evolve, and expand. It is one’s commitment to be better than the current version of themselves. It is embracing the truth that we are all master-builders, as a teacher once told me.

This is our history. And, we look forward to creating a future with you. — Ryan Hope Travis, Founder + Lead Maker

Keep moving.
